Real-time AI detection for fossil shark teeth, plus the tide and weather knowledge to know when to go.
Open Real-time Detection from Home and point the camera at the sand or gravel. When something looks like a tooth it gets framed, and you feel a vibration and hear a sound (adjust the strength in Settings).
The switch at the top toggles Close-up and Wide. Close-up covers your feet to 30 cm / 12 in, fast and easy on the battery. Wide splits the frame into pieces and catches small teeth up to 1.2 m / 4 ft away. Both are free for everyone.
Bright hours on a falling tide are the sweet spot. When you find one, tap Save Treasure: the photo is stored with the place, time, size, and the weather and tide of that moment.
Each find keeps its photo, place, time, size, and the weather and tide of that moment. Look back at where you found things on the map, sort by date or size, and share photos and videos. Directions to a spot open in Apple Maps or Google Maps.
The Field Guide covers 26 species. Tag a tooth with its species and it links to the Timeline (how old it is) and the Localities list (where in the world it turns up). The guide, timeline and localities are all free.
Hunter's Journey shows how many teeth, how big, at what time of day and on which tide — for everything or one species at a time. Achievement medals and CSV export live here too.
Register a favorite beach (up to 3) to see high and low tide times and heights and today's grade (S to D). The grade is an estimate of whether today is worth the trip, computed from tide, time of day, weather and the after-storm effect.
The 7-day forecast lines up grades for the week ahead with each day's best low tide. The yearly calendar marks the spring tides for a year. The trip planner ranks the days of the week you plan to travel.
Each hunt records the beach, tide, time of day and recent rain automatically. As hunts add up, the spot report shows patterns from your own records, like 'you find teeth here on the ebb'.
Free Every finding tool. Close-up and Wide, the collection, field guide, timeline, localities, today's tide and grade, 3 favorites, and low-tide alerts.
Short video Opens the 7-day forecast and yearly calendar for 10 minutes, up to 2 times a day. It's the way to try the forecast. The button is at the top right of Home and on the covered forecast card.
